Spun Metal Cordless Table Lamp

• Size: Dia 5.1" x H 10.8" / Dia 13 cm x H 27.5 cm.
• On a table: allow a clear circle of roughly 10–11" / 25–28 cm around the base so the lamp can be lifted and set down easily.
• Table height: on a table 22–26" / 56–66 cm high the light sits just below seated eye level, which is where the glow reads best.
• Power: no outlet is needed at the table — the lamp runs 8–12 hours per charge and recharges in about 3 hours from the supplied USB charger.
• Carrying: the lower grip is surface-treated to stop it slipping in the hand when the lamp is moved.

The Spun Metal Cordless Table Lamp from Solae Design is turned from a single block of spinning aluminum, and it feels like it: dense, cool and firm in the hand, with no seams or fittings interrupting the profile. The light comes out from beneath the top rather than through a shade, so what you see is a warm ring of glow around the object instead of a bulb.

Touching the top steps the brightness through four levels, from a faint candle-like flicker to a light bright enough to work by, and holding the top adjusts it continuously. The LED can also be set to three tones — warm 2900K, neutral 4000K and a whiter 5000K — so the lamp suits a dinner table, a bathroom shelf and a work surface without changing anything else.

An IP66 rating means it can go outside on a terrace or sit in a bathroom without concern, and a full charge runs 8 to 12 hours, refilling in about three hours from the USB charger supplied. The battery is replaceable when it eventually stops holding charge, though the LED itself is not.
