Amberwood Curve Table Lamp

The Amberwood Curve Table Lamp from Solae Design pairs a gently curved walnut-toned base with an amber glass shade, and the result is a lamp that reads warm before it is even switched on. The curve is the whole point: it takes what could be an ordinary cylinder and gives the piece a profile worth looking at from across the room.

Amber glass does something plain white glass cannot. It shifts the light toward gold, which flatters wood floors, leather, brass hardware and skin tones alike, and it takes the edge off a bright bulb so the lamp can sit close to where you are sitting. On a nightstand it is soft enough to read by without waking anyone else; on a console or sideboard it fills the corner of a room that overhead lighting always misses.

Two heights are available, 9.8 inches and 12.6 inches, so it can be matched to a low bedside table or a taller console. Every version ships with an inline switch on the cord and is offered with a US, UK, AU or EU plug. Use a warm white bulb to make the most of the amber glass. Clean the glass with a soft dry cloth and avoid soaking the wooden base.
