The Red Blown Glass Tripod Table Lamp from Solae Design sets a hand-blown glass shade on a sculptural chrome tripod base. The silhouette is unmistakably mid-century, but the colour is what makes it current: a saturated red shade reads as a deliberate accent rather than a neutral, and it changes the character of a whole surface.

Because the glass is blown rather than pressed, wall thickness varies slightly across the shade and the light varies with it. White is also offered for a softer, more diffuse result. It takes a G9 lamp and dims with a compatible bulb and in-line dimmer, which is worth fitting given how much presence the colour carries at full brightness.

Two sizes are offered at 13.8 and 17.7 inches tall, so it suits a living room credenza, an entryway console or a home office desk. It plugs in via a 59 inch cord, so no electrician is needed.
