The Petal Handblown Glass Pendant from Solae Design shapes a single piece of handblown glass into an open petal form, set on a warm brass fitting. Because the glass is blown rather than pressed, the wall thickness varies slightly across the shade, and the light it throws varies with it. The result is softer and less uniform than a machine-made shade of the same shape.

The open form directs most of the light downward, which makes it a genuinely useful task light over a kitchen bench or a bar, while the glass itself glows enough to register as a warm point in the room. The brass fitting is left unlacquered in tone, so it sits comfortably alongside both cool and warm metals elsewhere in a kitchen without needing to match anything exactly.

Six options are offered, from clear and white through to blue and pink. That spread means the same fixture can either recede into an existing scheme or become the reason for one.
