Up Down Cylinder Facade Sconce

• Dimensions: Dia 4.3" x H 11.8" / Dia 11 cm x H 30 cm
• Choosing a configuration: single unit, set of 5 or set of 10 — fixture dimensions are identical across all three, so pack size affects only how many you receive
• Mounting height, general: 60–66" from finished floor to the center of the fixture for general lighting
• Flanking a door or gate: set a matched pair 28–40" apart, centered on the opening
• Along a passage or corridor: space units 8–10 ft apart for an even rhythm with no dark stretch between them
• Projection: the body projects roughly 4.3" from the wall — check this against the clear width of a narrow passage or covered walkway before mounting
• Beside a bed on a covered terrace: mount 30–36" above the mattress so the light falls onto the page, not the face

The Up Down Cylinder Facade Sconce from Solae Design is the detail that makes a plain facade look considered. A simple tube throws light up the wall and down over the ground beneath it, creating the paired wash that architects specify on entrances, garage walls and stair runs. Nothing about the form draws attention to itself — the effect on the wall is the point, and the fixture disappears into it.

Three finishes cover most exteriors. White reads lightest against render and painted brick. Black recedes almost completely on a dark facade or behind planting. Gray is the compromise that sits comfortably on concrete, stone and untreated timber. Because the fixture is most often used in a repeating rhythm rather than alone, the range is also offered in sets of five and sets of ten at a lower unit cost, which is how most facade and corridor runs are actually specified.

At 4.3 inches in diameter and 11.8 inches tall the body is slim enough to keep its projection tight against the wall, which matters on a narrow side passage or a covered walkway where people pass close. The housing is sealed to IP65 for permanent outdoor exposure, and warm light keeps the wash flattering on brick and render rather than clinical.
