Persepolis Marble Sconce

A slab of marble pierced through by a fluted brass pin, borrowed in spirit from the jewelled stonework on the statues of ancient Persepolis. The Persepolis Marble Sconce is assembled by hand and behaves more like an ornament than a light fitting, which is why it doubles in impact when hung as a pair. The palette runs warm and grounded, and settles particularly well into autumn-toned rooms.

The body is solid brass, hand finished, and it deepens rather than thins with years of use. Four stone options are chosen at checkout: charcoal black shot through with mineral veining, white threaded with soft grey, a walnut-toned brown, and a forest green with real depth to it. Marble being marble, grain direction, veining and tone shift from one unit to the next.

Expect your piece to differ from the photograph, because that variance is the design rather than a flaw in it. A standard E26 or E27 medium base bulb fits, sold separately, and warm white brings out both the metal and the stone. The sconce mounts hardwired to a wall junction box behind a 14 cm backplate. A licensed electrician is recommended for the fitting, and all mounting hardware is supplied in the box.
