The Skein Hand-Knit Wool Throw from Solae Design is knitted by hand in wool, so the stitch runs slightly irregular across the piece in a way machine knitting does not reproduce. That irregularity is the character of the throw rather than a flaw in it, and it becomes more obvious the longer the piece is in use.

Wool is the reason it performs. It insulates while still passing moisture vapour, so it stays warm without becoming clammy, and it resists odour and soiling well enough that airing is usually more effective than washing. Hand knitting produces a looser, more open stitch than a machine would at the same yarn weight, which gives the throw its drape and its visual bulk without a corresponding weight in the hand.

Suited to a sofa, an armchair, or folded at the end of a bed. Air it outdoors rather than washing wherever possible. When washing is genuinely needed, hand wash cold with a wool-specific detergent, press the water out without wringing, and dry flat away from heat and direct sun. Never tumble dry — wool will felt irreversibly and the piece cannot be recovered. Some pilling is normal in the first weeks of use and can be lifted carefully with a wool comb.
