Selene Marble Oval Flush Mount

The Selene Marble Oval Flush Mount from Solae Design sets a slab of white marble into a black oval frame and mounts it tight to the ceiling. The profile is shallow throughout — 3.5″ on the smallest size — so it sits almost flat, with the stone face doing all of the visible work and the frame reduced to an outline.

Marble is thin enough here to transmit light. Lit from behind, the slab glows unevenly along its natural veining, so the pattern in the stone becomes the pattern in the light and no two fixtures are alike. Unlit, it reads simply as a stone panel set against the ceiling. Three sizes are offered, from 12.9″ up to 22.8″ across, each available with a standard warm source or Triac warm dimming for evening levels.

Suited to bedrooms, hallways and any room with limited ceiling height where a pendant would sit too low to pass beneath. The largest size carries enough presence to work over a seating area on its own. Marble is porous and will etch on contact with acid — dust with a soft dry cloth and avoid all chemical cleaners. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician following local codes.
