The Round LED Clock Wall Light from Solae Design puts a clock and a wall light in the same circle. That combination is more useful than it first appears: a hallway usually needs both, and mounting them separately means two fixings, two sight lines and two things for the eye to resolve on a wall that would read better with one.

The fixture is hardwired rather than plugged in or battery powered. That is a real constraint — it needs a junction box and an electrician — but it buys a clean wall with no cord and no cell to replace, which on a fixture that combines a light and a clock would otherwise mean two separate power problems to solve. Because it is wired in rather than switched on the body, it can share a circuit with the room lighting.

The integrated LED runs warm white and gives ambient rather than task light, so it layers with whatever else already lights the room instead of trying to replace it. Two finishes are offered, black and gold, both at just under twenty inches across.
