The Pendulum Wall Clock from Solae Design keeps the shape of a traditional pendulum clock and drops almost everything else. The case is narrow, the dial is uncluttered, and the pendulum hangs below in the open rather than behind a glazed door — which makes it read as a modern object quoting an old one rather than as a reproduction.

A silent sweep movement drives both the hands and the swing. That combination is worth stating plainly, because a pendulum is exactly the kind of mechanism people expect to tick: here the pendulum moves continuously and makes no sound, so the clock can go in a bedroom or a study without becoming the loudest thing in it. At just over eighteen inches tall it needs vertical rather than horizontal wall space, which is often the easier thing to find.

Construction is plastic, MDF and acrylic, kept light enough that the supplied no-trace nails hold it without opening up a wall. It runs on one alkaline battery, not included. Four colorways are offered, so the case can be matched to a wall rather than only to the furniture beneath it. Best for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, hallways, study rooms and entryways — particularly in rented rooms where fixings need to leave nothing behind.
