Description
The Oversized Metal and Walnut Wall Clock from Solae Design runs from just under two feet to well over three across, which is a range wide enough to change what the piece is doing. At the smaller end it is a clock on a wall; at the largest it is the wall’s main feature, and everything else has to be arranged around it.
Three materials are used together: metal for the structure, brass for the accents that catch light, and walnut for warmth against both. The finish is painted and polished, so the metal reads as a considered surface rather than as bare stock. Two combinations are offered — black with brass, and black with walnut — which are genuinely different in a room rather than variations on a shade. Five diameters are offered, so the same design can be scaled to the wall rather than the wall worked around the clock.
It is battery powered, and on a clock this size that is the specification that makes it practical. No wiring, no junction box, no electrician: it hangs where the wall can carry roughly eleven pounds. Best for living rooms, dining rooms, home offices, entryways, bedrooms and hallways with a long wall and the ceiling height to take a piece at this scale.
