Eclipse Opal Disc Pendant

The Eclipse Opal Disc Pendant from Solae Design joins two opalescent discs into a single elliptical form, and joins them well enough that the seam disappears entirely once the fixture is lit. What is left is a clean geometric shape with no visible hardware and no hot spot, hung from a slim black canopy that keeps the whole assembly looking weightless against the ceiling.

The diffusion is the reason to choose it. Opal spreads the source evenly across the full surface of both discs, so the light arrives as a broad, soft field rather than a point. Over a dining table this means faces are lit without shadows under the eyes; in a living room it means the fixture can be looked at directly without discomfort.

It is built from lightweight polymer rather than glass, which allows the larger 54 cm four-bulb size to exist at a sensible weight and without the fragility that would make it a risk above a table. The smaller 30 cm three-bulb version suits a bedside, a hallway or a compact dining space.
