The Lunar Glow LED Wall Clock from Solae Design is two different objects depending on the hour. Unlit, it is a plain circular clock in density board and plexiglass that asks nothing of the wall. Lit, it becomes a soft disc of warm light, and the room around it changes more than the clock itself does.

The light runs at 3000K, which is the warm end of white and the reason the effect reads as lunar rather than clinical. Cooler temperatures give a blue cast that makes a lit disc look like a screen; at 3000K the glow stays close to candle and lamp light, so it sits with the rest of an evening room instead of competing with it. Both sizes read as a full disc from across a room, with the larger carrying further in an open-plan space.

Plexiglass over density board is what makes the diffusion even — a rigid backing to hold the circle flat, and a translucent front to spread the light across the whole face rather than showing bright points behind it. Two diameters are offered, at roughly twelve and sixteen inches. Best for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and entryways used mostly in the evening.
