The Corolla Tiered Glass Petal Chandelier from Solae Design is assembled from curved glass petals, each cut and shaped by hand, then arranged in graduated tiers around a central copper column. The widest ring sits at the top and each layer below draws in, so the whole fixture tapers like an opening flower seen from beneath it.

Layering is what separates this from a single-ring chandelier. Light entering the top tier passes through several depths of glass before it leaves, picking up colour and edge refraction on the way, which gives the fixture a glow with visible internal structure rather than a flat surface sparkle. Four sizes are offered, from a 21.7 inch eight-head to a 35.4 inch twenty-head, in copper paired with clear, amber, pink or green glass.

This is a focal fixture and wants a room that can accommodate it: a dining table, a stairwell, or a double-height entrance. Each petal is hand-formed and slight variation in curve and tone is characteristic of the process. Dust with a soft dry cloth. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician following local codes. Allow clearance beneath the lowest tier so the glass sits well above head height.
