Description
The Ginkgo Ceramic Leaf Ceiling Light from Solae Design arranges white ceramic ginkgo leaves around a cluster of G9 sources. The light bounces between the leaf forms instead of pouring straight down, which gives the room a soft, dappled quality much closer to daylight filtered through a canopy than to a conventional ceiling fitting hung flat against the plaster.
Each leaf is finished by hand and fixed to a metal frame, so the arrangement has the slight irregularity of something assembled rather than moulded. The ceramic reads as matte and solid when the light is off, which matters a great deal for a semi-flush fixture that sits in full view all day. Three body finishes are available in gold, nickel and white, letting the frame either contrast against the leaves or disappear behind them.
Four diameters run from 36 cm to 62 cm, so the same design can serve as a modest hallway fitting or a full centrepiece above a dining table. The semi-flush mounting keeps it clear of head height in rooms where a pendant would be impractical. A small amount of glue at each leaf join is part of the production process and does not affect appearance or performance.
