Sculptural Horse Floor Lamp

The Sculptural Horse Floor Lamp from Solae Design is a full-scale horse in matte black iron, carrying a black drum shade lined in gold. The gilding is the detail that changes everything: light strikes the gold interior before it leaves the shade, so what falls on the room is amber rather than white, and the black body picks up that warmth along its edges and haunches as it goes.

At 65 inches long and 70.9 inches tall this is furniture as much as lighting. It wants floor area and a clear sightline rather than a corner, and it works best where people can walk around it and see it properly from several angles. Suited to a large living room, a double-height entry, a gallery wall, or a study with the ceiling height to carry it comfortably.

It is a plug-in fixture, so no electrician is required — assemble it, place it on a flat stable surface and plug it in. The 59 inch cord reaches most wall outlets from a sofa or reading-chair position, and the metal base needs no anchoring at all. Choose from US, UK, AU and EU plug types.
