Compact Solar Border Cube Light

• Small: Dia 8.3" x H 5.9" / Dia 21 cm x H 15 cm
• Large: Dia 12.2" x H 8.7" / Dia 31 cm x H 22 cm
• Choosing a size: the 8.3" unit is the more discreet, sized to sit within planting or on a low wall; the 12.2" gives a broader spread and suits standing alone on a lawn or gravel bed
• Solar siting: site where the top face receives 4–6 hours of direct, unshaded sun — overhanging planting is the usual cause of a short run time
• Spacing: set units 6–10 ft apart through a border or along a path so the pools of light meet
• Setback: keep 12–18" back from the walking edge, clear of foot traffic and mower lines
• Surface: stands free on a level, firm surface — no hardwiring, conduit or outdoor outlet is required

The Compact Solar Border Cube Light from Solae Design is a self-contained lamp for gardens where running a cable was never going to happen. The body is a squat stainless steel form with a diffusing top, so light lifts gently upward and outward instead of glaring sideways. Placed among low planting or beside a border it reads as a soft point of light rather than a fixture demanding attention.

Two sizes are offered, both small by design. The 8.3 inch unit is the more discreet, sized to sit within planting or on a low wall without competing with it. The 12.2 inch unit gives a broader spread and is the better choice where it stands alone on a lawn or gravel bed. Grouping several across a planted area works better than relying on one to cover the whole space.

Running on stored solar power, the lamp charges through the day and switches on automatically at dusk, with a handheld remote for manual control when needed. A full four to six hour charge returns roughly eight to ten hours of light, which covers a normal evening comfortably. The housing is sealed to IP65 against rain and irrigation. Placement is the one thing to get right — a spot in permanent shade will never give a full charge.
