A black metal cage holds a drum-shaped glass shade close to the ceiling, and the whole thing reads as classic rather than trend-led, which is what makes it easy to live with.

Two glass options change its character more than the photographs suggest. White glass is crisper and gives a cleaner, brighter output, suiting kitchens, laundry rooms and modern hallways. Beige glass warms the light noticeably and is the better choice in bedrooms, farmhouse interiors and older houses with wood floors. Two diameters are offered, 14.2 inches for a corridor, entry or small bedroom, and 17.7 inches where the fixture needs to carry a larger room on its own.

Sitting flush to the ceiling, it clears doorways and low beams that a pendant would not, which makes it a practical answer for hallways, stair landings, attic conversions and any room with limited headroom. The glass shade unscrews from the cage for cleaning, so it stays clear rather than slowly dimming behind a film of dust. It takes a standard E27 bulb, leaving the colour temperature and brightness in your hands. Installation is to a standard ceiling junction box and should be completed by a qualified electrician in line with local electrical codes.
